The summers in New York are short, like really short. This May was still a chilly, cloudy and just a damp kinda crappy month. The warmer sunny days didn’t really arrive until a couple weeks ago. By the end of August, you can feel the cooler fall days arriving. I spend most of the year dreaming about the warmer summer months and when it finally arrives it’s one of the best times of the year.
I like to treasure every single moment of it hoping it will never end. I just love summer, I still get that same excitement I did as a little kid on the last day of school. Who cares that I’m 30 and I still have to work every day during the summer? It’s still magical and perfect. There are so many things I love about it. In honor of the official start of summer last week, here are a few things I absolutely love about summer.
THE LONGER DAYS
Waking up in the sunlight and coming home from work and still seeing the sun is a wonderful feeling. Hello, pretty skies and sunglasses!
I like to get outside as much as possible during these weeks. Even if that’s just sitting outside after work with a glass of wine, Rocco, and the husband.
How cute is this wine glass? I bought a set from a winery on Eastern Long Island but I found the set on Amazon.
ALL THE SUMMER STUFF
Flowy dresses, shorts, sandals, maxi skirts, sandals, pineapple prints. I love it all. If I had an unlimited budget, I’d buy an entirely new wardrobe just for these short summer months but sadly I do not. I’ll just have to be content making wish lists and maybe only purchase one or two items? Maybe three?? Check out my summer wish list here.
I think it’s nearly impossible for me to ever have enough iced coffee or teas when it’s hot out. I crave iced drinks every single day. I make my own iced coffee a lot most of the time but I do make Starbucks trips on my lunch breaks to treat myself. My favorite drink from Starbucks has to be a soy green tea latte!
ROOFTOP BARS & RESTAURANTS
I love having a view of the city while sipping on drinks and eating. Who doesn’t love a pretty view of New York City?
The view from Mr. Purple
What do you love about the summer?
