Weekend Notes 6.12.17

It’s been awhile since I caught up with everyone, hasn’t it? Last week I shared some of my favorite places to eat at while in Montreal and I shared all of my favorite makeup to travel with but since my Montreal trip, it’s been pretty quiet around blog land.

When I arrived back home from Montreal everything got pretty busy and the blog suffered a bit. I know all my blogger friends know how hard it can be sometimes to keep up with posts when there is so much going on in non-blog/real life!

Anyway, so what have I been up to for the last couple of months? Well, I said goodbye to my twenties and hello to thirties. I guess I can no longer call myself a 20 something-year-old now can I? Age is just a number though, especially when sometimes I still think I’m 19 in my mind so turning 30 is all good.

My husband, parents, and cousins threw me an amazing thirtieth birthday party. The party itself wasn’t a surprise but all the decor was. I pretty much just picked a color theme – black and gold – and they went with it.

I traveled to Minneapolis for a work trip for a couple days in May. Truthfully, I didn’t really love it there. My hotel was in the middle of nowhere and there wasn’t much around. I visited the Mall of America with some fellow co-workers but it really is just a big mall. Once you’ve seen one mall, you’ve seen them all. I was looking forward to finding some local places to have dinner at but most places nearby were the same chains we have in New York. Maybe it’s just where I stayed though. I’m sure there are nicer places in the city and I just didn’t have time to explore more.

I’m still trying to Marie Kondo my life and I spent a weekend cleaning out my closet. I donated most items to Big Brothers Big Sisters and some I’ve listed for sale on Poshmark. If the items don’t sell soon though, I’m probably just going to donate them. I want all the extra clutter out of my house asap!

Every weekend it’s been graduation parties and birthday parties with family and I’m not complaining one bit! The hubby and I have had a college graduation party, a high school graduation party, my best friend’s thirtieth birthday party, a 1st birthday party, a sprinkle and we have parties almost every weekend through July!

Can you believe, every summer I never ever visit the beach regularly? Summers are so short in New York and I do spend lots of time outside enjoying the weather but I never actually go to the beach. So a couple weekends ago the hubby and I drove around looking at different beaches to find our “perfect” one and we may just have found it.

From now until Labor Day weekend, this is where I’ll be every weekend…hopefully.

So that’s been my last couple of months. It’s been filled with parties and spending time with family and friends and it’s been absolutely wonderful.

What’s been going on in your life lately?

I can definitely understand life getting in the way of blogging! I was busy with school a lot last year so my blog suffered a little bit, but since I have the summer off, I’ve been able to devote more time to it and I love it! Glad to see your getting back into it too! 🙂

  5. Life definitely gets in the way of blogging sometimes. For me, I am so busy with my kids end of the school year stuff and I can’t seem to find as much time to keep up as I would like.

  12. Love the beach more than anything and despite the sea being only five minutes away, we don’t spend as much time there as we should. Congrats on being 30 – still so young, wait until you hit 50 (like I did a few months back!). Love your party colour theme and all those gorgeous looking treats!

Get to the beach, girl!! I grew up in Northern NJ (right outside of Manhattan) and made a point to go down the shore multiple times a year because it’s fun and it was SO close!! Now I live 3 hours away from the beach and miss the hour trips to the beach!!

  22. Good for you for donating those unwanted items. I have been trying to organize my home more and have a pile of stuff for a yard sale and a pile for donation. What doesn’t sell at the yard sale will then be donated too.

  23. I lived in Minneapolis for six months back in grad school. There are some really great restaurants in the downtown area, but I didn’t love the city either. I never did get the hype with the mall. To me it was just a tourist attraction.

  24. I haven’t read the Magic of Tidying Up yet, but after watching a bunch of Youtube videos about it, I did a modified version on my clothes. I got rid of so much stuff and have been feeling the need to purge even more.

  38. Happy belated birthday! I love the color scheme for your party! And as far as getting the clutter out of your life (and your closet!), I can totally relate! I did that a couple years ago and felt great! Since having my daughter though, clutter has crept back in, so it’s about time for me to do some decluttering too.
