Now that summer is in full swing (I love it by the way!) it’s so important to stay on top of your sunscreen game. Sunscreen can really suck sometimes though. It’s thick, greasy, smells funny, runs in your eyes when you sweat, can totally ruin your makeup BUT it’s the best way to protect your skin from sun damage. Thankfully finding good sunscreens isn’t so hard anymore.
Do I wear sunscreen everyday? Yes I do, even on cloudy days and even in the colder months. I believe it’s the best way to protect skin against sun damage and premature aging. I know there’s a lot of talk going around about not wearing sunscreen because we all need Vitamin D but I’m just not comfortable with that. I don’t want to up my chances of skin cancer, age spots or early wrinkles. So for me sunscreen is a must!
Let’s start with my FAVE facial sunscreen. It’s always the hardest to find a good one that won’t ruin a cute makeup look!
Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40. This one is perfect if you have oily skin like me. It goes on smooth, is lightweight, and doesn’t leave a white cast. Bonus? It’s also a primer so makeup glides on easily and won’t run down your face when it’s hot & humid out.
Can’t forget about protecting your lips from sun damage!
Supergoop Play Lip Shield SPF 30. A soothing lip balm with avocado and coconut is the perfect base for any lipsticks or glosses.
For all over body sunscreens, I have two I go to favorites.
Supergoop Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50. I buy the largest size and it can be pricey but it’s non-greasy and doesn’t leave any funny sunscreen smell behind. It’s also actually moisturizing so I use this in place of body moisturizer when I’m going out.
Alba Botanica Hawaiian Sunscreen Clear Spray SPF 50. This one is perfect for touch ups throughout the day. Sprays are just so easy for the beach or when you know you’re going to be outside all day. The coconut scent is light and not overpowering.
For easy touch ups without messing up makeup.
Mineral Fusion Brush-On Sun Defense. This brush on powder is easy to throw in my bag and use for touch ups without smudging my makeup. It doesn’t add any weird cast either. Sometimes the tube brush combo thing can be annoying but I’ll deal with that for an easy on the go sunscreen.
