Do Past Purchases Still Live Up to the Hype?

I’ve shared many of my favorite beauty and fashion items, wish list posts,  and makeup buys in the past on my blog. I love reading other blogger’s posts when they revisit past post and give updates. Being honest on here is important to me. My thoughts on products and what I love changes sometimes so I thought it’s about time I share if my thoughts have changed on anything I’ve shared on The Krystal Diaries before.

Some of these products I still love and completely recommend you try. Others, not so much anymore. Some items from my wishlist I’ve purchased or received as gifts. Others, I’m still lusting after.

Here’s a roundup of some past products.

BP Sweater (Past post – Fall Fashion Must Haves)

Pass on this. I wore it a few times, and while it was the comfiest sweater I’ve ever worn (and still is) but it just didn’t hold up well. After only aa few wears it got all those little piles all over it and not amount of using a razor to get them off was working. Now I just wear it around the house when it’s cold.

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream (Past post – Derma E Hydrating Night Creme)

Oh did I really love this. It worked so well for the longest time. However, after using it for some months, it started to make my skin break out. I have no idea why but my skin just wasn’t reacting well to it. If you struggle with acne or oiliness, I’d suggest passing on this one. It’s a shame because it smelt pretty nice too.

P.S. I kind of miss my red hair

HASK Hair Products  (Past post- HASK Keratin Protein Smoothing Hair Care Collection)

These are still my go-to shampoo and conditioner. My hair always feels so clean and soft after. I especially like that the products are sulfate free making them safe to use on my hair. The products won’t strip the color or keratin treatment from my hair. Currently, I’m using their charcoal shampoo and conditioner. Another plus? Their products are really affordable!

MATCHCo Foundation Review - The Krystal Diaries

MATCHCo Foundation (Past post – MATCHCo Foundation Review)

This foundation is still a favorite of mine when I’m going for a medium coverage look. I really only switch back and forth between MATCHCo’s foundation and Kat Von D foundation. I actually just ordered a new MATCHCo foundation and should be getting it this week.

Naturalizer Booties & Boots (Past post – Fall Fashion Must Haves)

I really can’t get enough of these boots. I can walk around in them all day long and my feet never hurt. I’m thinking about replacing some of my other booties with Naturalizer ones just because I still love the brand that much.

S’well Water Bottle (Past post – Last Minute Christmas Wishlist)

This one was on my Christmas wishlist. I didn’t get it for Christmas but I did get a Hydro Flask water bottle and I’m so happy with it. It holds 40 ounces and keeps my water cold all day. I used to take at least three water bottles with me to work every day, but now I don’t have to anymore.

Fleece Lined Leggings (Past post – Fall Shopping Wish List)

Back when I shared this list with you all, I didn’t own any pairs of fleece lined leggings. Now I own so many of them! They are just so cozy and comfy when it’s cold out. You absolutely need fleece lined leggings in your life! Like seriously.

Valentino Rockstud Flats (Past post – Last Minute Christmas Wishlist)

Yup still wishing for these 🙂

What are some products you’ve loved in the past but not so much anymore?

  1. Great idea to revisit your past posts! We put so much time and energy into these posts, then they can easily be forgotten once they fall to the end of the site. I want to check out that hair mask too 🙂

  7. I love that you do this, it feels like we’re really getting your honest opinions. (and I totally have a sweater like that that I loved but just didn’t hold up, sure is cozy at home though!)

  12. This is a really cool reflection post, great way to remember old posts (and to share them with new readers that may have missed them!) I love that sweater…but I have the same issue with the pilling of my favorite sweaters, then they become great with leggings around the house though!

I love the idea of this post! It’s such a good thought to go back and say what you do and don’t do anymore! Too bad about the sweater. I love Kat Von D foundation and have never heard of Matchcos.

What a great idea to revisit your older posts and spruce them up a bit. As you said our thoughts on products might change from time to time, so it’s a good thing to revisit them.

I like the updates, great idea. I think i may have to try the Keratin product. I’ve never been able to find anything I really love for my hair, maybe it’s because I’m so cheap LOL.

I would love to find a good brand of hair products that won’t damage my hair coloring so I will try HASK. It is refreshing to get the honest opinion that something actually was bad and didn’t do what it said.

  20. Love the idea of this blog post – I wish more people were doing these updates, would be ever so interesting to see how bloggers get on with products say a year down the line! x

  21. What a great way to go back and provide even more feedback about different products you used. My skin does the same thing with face washes. I swear every 6 months or so my face decides it doesn’t like whatever I am using and just breaks out. So I try something else and that works for the same amount of time and back to the store I go. It is frustrating!

  22. Great round up! I think making a compilation is a great thing to do every so often in case a post gets missed.

  23. Good luck with your giveaway! I enjoy revisiting posts too , it’s great to hear honest reviews of products that didn’t work as well as you thought they would too.

  27. Your red hair looked great and that cut was to die for. I’ve been thinking about cutting my hair for a while but it would have to be a great cut and color like yours.

  28. I won a white S’well Water Bottle before. I really like that company. It was so pretty, but I gave it to my brother because I knew he’d get more use out of it.
