Smoothie Prep

It’s no secret that I love smoothies all year long. However, making them sometimes is too much work in the mornings before I head out to the office. Working those 11 hour days last week really got me thinking about how I can make my morning breakfast routine easier. The later I can sleep, the better.

I must admit I did not think of this smoothie prep idea on my own, I found it on Pinterest a few months back and finally decided to give it a try. Side note- I might be slightly addicted to Pinterest.

First I bought all the fruits and yogurt I would need to make about a week’s worth of smoothies – some strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, and Chobani greek vanilla yogurt.

I then spread all of the fruit out onto a baking sheet. I sliced up 2 bananas and laid those on a sheet as well.

Then I scooped the yogurt into a mini muffin tray. I didn’t really measure it out just filled each mini muffin spot.

I put all the trays into the freezer for about an hour. Freezing everything separately on the sheets keeps it from sticking together.

Once frozen, I portioned out all of the fruits into sandwich bags. I probably put about 1 cup of fruit into each bag. Then using a spoon I popped the frozen yogurt out of the muffin trays and put two into each bag. Back into the freezer it all went. In total I made 5 smoothie bags.

In the mornings now I just grab a bag, throw everything into the blender, add some Silk vanilla soy milk and go.

Also, since all the fruit is frozen I don’t need to add any ice which keeps my smoothies thicker. Thicker smoothies keep me full for longer.
