Sephora Beauty Haul – What to Buy

First, can I point out the obvious? How are we halfway through October already?!? Seriously, where does the time go?? Anyway, last month I promised a review of some of the items from my most recent Sephora Beauty Haul that finally pushed me into VIB Rouge status! A couple of my purchases were loves and a few were big misses. Disappointing but it happens.

Sephora Beauty Haul What to Buy and Not Buy // The Krystal Diaries

1. Roll On Acne Clearing Solution – Ole Henriksen

I’ve been searching for a good spot treatment for what seems like years now. This is the first one I’ve ever liked. It doesn’t dry out my skin and it works well. It doesn’t work overnight but after two or three uses, the pimple is pretty much gone and healing. Only downside, it’s in a roller ball tube which I can’t imagine is very hygienic.

2. Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum – Murad

Murad has always never disappointed me and this serum is working really well for me. I have some acne scars on my cheeks that I want cleared up. I’ve been using this every night for a few weeks now. My skin does seem less dull, almost brighter and the scars are getting lighter. It is slightly pricey but worth it if you have stubborn scars.

3. Caviar Repair Multi-Vitamin Heat Protection Spray – Alterna Haircare

This was such a disappointment. The spray had pretty good reviews and I needed a new heat protecting spray but this left my hair feeling so sticky. I didn’t spray that much onto my hair and when I tried to run my flat iron through my hair the iron would snag because of the stickiness. I ended up giving up of flat ironing my hair that day and promptly washed it again to get rid of the stiff stickiness.

4. Powdered Blush in Goulue – Nars

This was a VIB Rouge color, and it looked so pretty online. When I opened it though, I was a little worried. I normally lean towards matte, no sparkle blushes, and this one has sparkle to it. However, I was totally wrong about worrying. This shade is perfect for a night out. It’s not too extreme, and the sparkle isn’t even noticeable. It’s my new go-to color for going out now.

5. Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF 15 – Fresh

I’ve used the little sample size of this in the past and for some reason totally forgot it even existed. My lips get super dry most of the time but especially now. This is helping me and I’ve even started putting it over lip stains to prevent drying.

6. Bye, Bye Under Eye Cream – It Cosmetics

I just want to say how happy I am that Sephora is now carrying It Cosmetics’ products. I use a couple of their other products. Some are misses, but most are hits. This eye cream is a hit. It’s creamy and thick but not oily or greasy. I’ve been putting it on in the mornings and at night, and it’s helping with my puffiness.

7. Angled Blush Brush – Sephora

This was on sale when I bought it and now I know why. It’s really flimsy, and the brush fibers fall right out of it. Oh well, you live, you learn.

8. Waterproof Mascara – Buxom

The non-waterproof version is my favorite mascara. I never wear it on my bottom lashes though because my eyes tear up sometimes, hello annoying contacts, and it smudges. This waterproof one doesn’t and stays put all day.

These are the purchases that pushed me to VIB Rouge and free makeovers! Maybe it’s a sign I shop there way too much? It’s a good thing Sephora has a good return policy because I took the blush brush and heat protectant spray right back.

This is a HUGE haul in my book, ha! Just the Fresh balms alone are pricey. I like the Rose one best so far. Love your haul post! I wonder if the Ole Henrikson roller would be as effective if you rolled it onto a single-use sponge and then used that on your face? Could help alleviate any concerns over using the same rollerball surface over and over again. 🙂

Thanks for the edited list of items to check out. When I go to Sephora I get totally overwhelmed at the millions of items and I usually just get what I came in for and escape as quickly as possible!

Great picks! I love sephora but I get overwhelmed in there, just too much stuff. I go occassionally but mostly shop online to keep from getting side tracked.

I love reading other people’s Sephora Hauls and reviews! Its so helpful to me every time I go to Sephora. Have you tried the drying lotion from Kate Sommerville for acne? It’s one of the best spot treatments I’ve tried! And I’m also super excited that Sephora is carrying ItCosmetics. Their CC cream is one of my holy grail foundations and I LOVE their bye bye pores powder!

These are great mini reviews! I used to get Birchbox but had to stop my subscription and I hate wasting money on a new product not knowing what I am in for. Thanks for putting this together!

Great finds! I will have to check some of these out! We don’t have a Sephora locally, just an Ulta. I see a shopping trip in my future!

Ah this makes me wish there was a Sephora where I live. The closest one is 6 hours away. I ended up ordering a bunch of stuff and returning the ones I end up not liking. Totally missing out on the free makeover 🙁

I love this list. I’m horrible at picking these kind of things for myself. Thank you for narrowing it down, especially the acne clearing solution. Can’t wait to try it.

I’ve heard and read lots of good reviews about Murad skincare, and I would love to try it. Glad that Sephora has also reach Asia, so its quite easy for us to have access to western cosmetics.
